Steve Wozniak‘s Silicon Valley Comic-Con is bringing a parade of pop culture icons to downtown San Jose this weekend. The cast of characters covers generations of TV superheroes, “Star Trek” stars and even a living legend, Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
And while the Apple co-founder is a pretty big name on his own, here are some of the others that will be at the convention, which takes place Friday through Sunday at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center and City National Civic. Events listed are at the City National Civic unless noted. Many celebs will have autograph and photo sessions available for a separate charge, too. William Shatner: Capt. James T. Kirk himself returns to Silicon Valley Comic-Con with two appearances. “An Evening With William Shatner,” the same side-splitting one-man show he put on last year, is Friday at 6:15 p.m. He’ll also host the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” 30th anniversary celebration at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
“Star Trek: The Next Generation” cast: Expected to join Shatner at the anniversary celebration are Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, Denise Crosby and Robert O’Reilly (who wasn’t part of the Enterprise crew but played Klingon Gowron). Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
Pam Grier and Nichelle Nichols: The two groundbreaking African American actresses — Grier built a career as an action star in the 1970s and Nichols found stardom as Lt. Uhura on “Star Trek” — will have a conversation Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Adam West and Burt Ward: The stars of the 1960s “Batman” TV show are, at this time, only scheduled to have a duo photo op ($99) at 1:45 p.m. Saturday in the Convention Center.
John Cusack: The actor, whose eclectic filmography ranges from teen comedies to action flicks, will be at the at 2 p.m. Saturday. One of his classic movies, 1985’s “Better Off Dead” is being screened at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Convention Center, Room 211.
Steven Yuen: “The Walking Dead” actor will be on stage at 2:30 p.m .Saturday at the Convention Center, Room 230ABC.
Buzz Aldrin: The Apollo 11 astronaut, one of the first two people to walk on the moon, will share his vision for the future of Mars exploration at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Robert Englund: The original Freddie Krueger will have a Q&A session at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Convention Center, Room 230ABC.
Grant Gustin and Tom Felton: Gustin, the title hero of TV’s “The Flash,” and co-star Felton, still better known for his “Harry Potter” role as Draco Malfoy, will appear together at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Billy Boyd: The Scottish actor, who played Pippin in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, appears 11 a.m. Sunday in the Convention Center, Room 230ABC.
Sesame Street: Some of the human residents of the original “Sesame Street” — Alison Bartlett, Roscoe Orman, Bob McGrath and Emilio Delgado — will join Caroll Edwin Spinney, who as voiced Big Bird for 45 years, for an appearance at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Adam Savage: The former “Mythbusters” host will answer questions about what he’s doing now and what the future holds for him at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Tom Wilson: Best known as “Biff” from “Back to the Future,” Wilson will answer audience questions at 1:30 p.m. at the Convention Center, Room 230ABC.
