A PARAGLIDER has crashed into a cliff at Sellicks Beach.
Medstar and State Emergency Service personnel rushed to the scene at the Esplanade after reports of the crash about 5.35pm on Thursday.
The man, in his early 30s, was seriously hurt and has been flown to hospital by helicopter. He is understood to be in a stable condition.
Witness Jenny Hanlon was on her front porch when she saw the paraglider came close to the cliff.
“He got very close and I can see he was really struggling,” he said.
“Then there was a wind change…he went down and this pile of dust went up, that’s how I knew he hit it really hard.”
She said a man who was paragliding with the victim bolted down the road and steps when the crash happened.
“They (paragliders) usually come quite close to the cliffs and they had good control,” she said.
“But this time was awful.”
