Gionee M2017 launched with 7000mAh battery, 6GB RAM and 256GB storage : News, News

Gionee has launched M2017 smartphone that comes with a massive 7000mAh battery. Gionee had been teasing the M2017 phone for a while. The phone is priced at Yuan 6999 (approx Rs 68,275) for 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant, the 256GB variant comes with an equally massive price tag of Yuan 1,699 (approx 1,65,875). Going by the price, it is evident that the phones are meant only for a select class of people.

The Gionee M2017 phone features a 5.7-inch AMOLED QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor. The processor is backed by 6GB LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. The phone doesn’t support expandable storage.

The Gionee M2017 smartphone has a dual-camera setup on the back with 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel camera sensors along with an LED flash. On the front it carries an 8-megapixel camera.

The phone’s battery is its highlight. Instead of one battery module of 7000mAh, the Gionee M2017 carries two 3500mAh batteries. It also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The phone also has a fingerprint scanner under the display.

The M2017 comes with dual-SIM slot for nano SIMs and supports connectivity options like 4G+, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 Type-C port, WiFi, OTG and GPS and also comes with FM Radio support. Gionee has removed the 3.5mm audio jack from the M2017 phone, something we have been seeing often in the market.

The phone measures 155.2 x 77.6 x 10.78 mm and weights 238 grams. The M2017 runs on the Amigo 3.5 UI, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

A metal body and leather covered back panel give the phone a premium feel. The phone comes only in gold and black colour option. Considering its price we don’t expect Gionee to launch it in India, especially when it is known for its budget and mid-range phones in the country. Even if it does launch the phone here, it should only be on delivery on demand basis.
